In spite of limited running under the 30,000km annual testing mileage restriction, the Brazilian completed a solid apprenticeship as the ING Renault F1 Team's test driver during the 2007 season. His work ethic, technical ability and strong performances earned him a race debut with the team for the 2008 season.
