Competing for Piquet Sports in the second GP2 Series season, Nelson was one of two drivers to stand out from the crowd in the hotly-contested championship.
The Brazilian eventually finished second in the championship, but his dynamic performances earned him the opportunity to sign as 2007 test driver for the ING Renault F1 Team.
